Endodontics

Endodontics

Relieve discomfort, treat infection and preserve your natural tooth whenever possible.

Endodontics deals with the soft tissue inside a tooth, commonly called the pulp. When this tissue becomes inflamed or infected because of deep decay, a crack, injury or previous dental work, root canal treatment may be recommended.

Root Canal Treatment

During root canal treatment, damaged or infected tissue is removed from inside the tooth. The internal space is then carefully cleaned, shaped, disinfected and sealed to protect it from further infection.

When Treatment May Be Needed

Symptoms can include persistent tooth pain, sensitivity to temperature, discomfort when biting, swelling or changes in the surrounding gums. Some affected teeth produce few obvious symptoms, which is why a complete examination and diagnostic imaging are important.

Restoring the Tooth

After root canal treatment, the tooth usually requires a permanent filling or crown to restore its strength and protect it during normal use. We’ll explain the appropriate next step based on the condition and location of your tooth.

We know tooth pain can be stressful. Our approach is calm, careful and focused on helping you understand what is happening and what can be done.
